AU Chairperson Commends Farmaajo for Rejecting Ambassador Madeira’s Expulsion

The head of the African Union Commission (AUC) has commended President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo for rejecting the expulsion of a top diplomat from Somalia.

Moussa Faki Mahamat, the Chairperson of the AUC, expressed gratitude to Farmaajo for rejecting the decision by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.

Earlier, Roble had given AU Ambassador Francisco Madeira 48 hours to leave the country.

He took that decision after declaring Madeira persona non grata.

Immediately afterward, President Farmaajo issued a statement to the effect that Prime Minister Roble had no such powers.

Further, Mahamat was delighted to note that Farmaajo’s administration remains interested in pursuing an excellent working relationship with Ambassador Madeira and AU.
