Several African Union (AU) leaders are monitoring the discrimination meted on Africans trying to leave Ukraine.
Currently, Ukraine is in a deadly war with Russia.
Unfortunately, the situation has left many Africans caught up in the deadly war. Many Africans have left the country but others are unable to.
This week, footage emerged of Ukrainians being given first priority to leave the warzone.
Africans who tried to leave were denied the chance to do that.
On Monday, Macky Sall, the President of Senegal and the AU Chairperson, expressed his dismay at the situation.
Together with Moussa Faki Mahamat, the Chair of the African Union Commission (AUC), he said that the treatment being given to Africans had left them “disturbed.”
Sall and Mahamat said that all people should be allowed to cross international borders urgently during conflict.
Hundreds of Somalis are among the Africans trying to depart Ukraine for safe destinations.
