Banadir Administrators Visit Somalia’s Most Popular Tourist Destination

Several administrators from the Banadir region visited one of Somalia’s most popular destinations for tourists on Wednesday.

The officials toured Warsheekh, a coastal town replete with tombs of deceased Sufi clerics.

Warsheekh, which is also a burial site of many saints, has been receiving visitors from all corners of the world for decades.

Governor Hassan Golof of Warsheekh welcomed the delegation of local government officers whose itinerary included visiting the surrounding beaches and historical sites.

The town, which is in HirShabelle, is only one hour away from Mogadishu.

While welcoming the visitors, Governor Golof said, “It is a great day to have you all here when the weather is beautiful, security is great, and beaches amazing for a tour.”

He urged the visitors not to leave until they have toured all the historical sites, especially the Sufi tombs, in the region.

For years, Warsheekh has been popular with Sufi adherents and tourists who prefer the coastal town’s beaches over the overcrowded beaches in Mogadishu.
