A Banadir court has postponed a case involving Abdiaziz Ahmed Gurbiye, a Somali journalist working for Goobjoog Media Group.
The court took this step on Tuesday when Gurbiye made his appearance again.
According to the court, Gurbiye’s case is now postponed indefinitely.
Gurbiye was arrested on April 14, 2020. At the time, the government said it was arresting him for “spreading false information” and “dishonoring the President.”
Lawyers representing the journalist objected the charges in court and vowed to put up a spirited defense of their client.
Several individuals, leaders, and human rights organizations have urged the government to release Gurbiye immediately and drop the charges filed against him in court.
