Mogadishu, Somalia – Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has commended Somalia’s aviation industry for its swift advancement, noting that the nation’s restoration of airspace authority and improved flight security signifies a wider national resurgence.
In a statement issued for International Civil Aviation Day, the Prime Minister indicated that Somalia’s accomplishments in revitalising air services have been instrumental in fostering economic development, stability, and re-establishing global connections.
He characterized the industry’s resurgence as evidence of Somalia’s capacity to reconstruct and oversee crucial national infrastructure following prolonged periods of instability.
PM Barre emphasized 2023 as a pivotal year, when Somalia attained Class A certification in Air Navigation Services, representing the premier international benchmark for aerial security and administration.
This achievement, he noted, positioned Somalia among nations capable of autonomously managing sophisticated air traffic control frameworks.
The Prime Minister lauded the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) and the Ministry of Transport for converting a defunct structure into a completely operational and globally acknowledged aviation ecosystem.
He stated that their efforts have bolstered investor trust, upgraded transportation links, and reinforced national safety measures.
Barre reiterated the government’s dedication to enhancing airport facilities, elevating service standards, and further incorporating Somalia into worldwide aviation corridors as a component of the nation’s enduring reconstruction and advancement plan.
