Barre Urges Ethiopia to Retract MoU with Somaliland

Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has called upon Ethiopia to retract its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Somaliland.

He added that Somalia had taken all possible measures to exercise restraint in the face of ongoing aggression by Ethiopia.

“Ethiopian troops continue operating in Somalia as does its airline and embassy,” stated Barre.

Prime Minister stated that Somalia had not expelled the Ethiopian Ambassador despite the diplomatic tension and subsequent fallout.

“We want good neighborliness between Somalia and Ethiopia,” he said.

“We hope that Ethiopia would retract the MoU instead of reviving an old and painful history between the two nations,” he concluded.
