Mohamed Beenebeene has welcomed the decision to admit Somalia to the East African Community (EAC).
Beenebeene, the Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development, hailed the leadership provided by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre in this matter.
He stated that President Mohamud and Prime Minister Barre played a crucial role in advocating and campaigning for Somalia’s admission to EAC.
The planning minister highlighted the attributes that Somalia would add to the regional economic bloc.
“Somalia has the longest coastline on the continent. It brings this to EAC,”
He added that the country also connects the trading routes between the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.
The minister clarified that the country would foster regional integration while providing numerous trade opportunities that benefit the entire region.
