Benadir Regional Administration (BRA) launched the first ever community-based study on COVID-19 in Mogadishu.
BRA’s Durable Solutions Unit launched a report on the findings of the community-based study at Jazeera Hotel in Mogadishu.
The launching ceremony took place on Thursday, December 10.
The European Union (EU) and several international partners collaborated with BRA’s Durable Solutions Unit to conduct the study.
It took these organizations two months to carry out the survey in the 17 districts of the nation’s capital.
Over 390 community health workers took part in the survey.
Dr. Hodan Ali, the Head of BRA’s Durable Solutions Unit, addressed the people gathered to receive the report.
“The study involved 2,566 people who confirmed displaying COVID-19-like symptoms,” said Dr. Ali, who doubles as the Mogadishu Mayor’s health advisor.
Dr. Ali stated that the findings of the survey would help the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to provide the necessary interventions.
