Residents of government houses in Berbera have been ordered to clear their arrears with immediate effect.
Mustafe Mohamud Ali, the Minister of Public Works, Lands and Housing, ordered those living in government houses to settle their arrears.
He added that the government would no longer treat rent defaulters kindly.
The minister spoke following his recent visit to the city.
He held a meeting with a number of coordinators and ministry employees when he visited the port city of Berbera.
Ali informed the residents to expect ministry officials to move from house to house.
“We will hold anyone who fails to clear their arrears or pay rent on time accountable,” the public works minister added.
