President Muse Bihi Abdi held talks with the National Electoral Commission to discuss the upcoming elections in Somaliland.
A statement from the Office of the President shows that the meeting took place in Bihi’s office on Wednesday.
Bihi discussed ways of accelerating the electoral process, especially for the parliamentary and local council elections.
The National Electoral Commission briefed the Head of State on the process, which they have already kick-started.
NEC also mentioned the recent mock voter registration exercise, which they termed a huge success.
Somaliland is scheduled to hold elections in early 2021 after a series of meetings between the NEC and political parties in the country ironed out all existing differences.
