President Muse Bihi Abdi has expressed his delight at the opening of Somaliland’s Representative Office in Taiwan.
Bihi issued a press release via video from his office in Hargeisa on Wednesday just after the Representative Office had been officially opened in Taipei.
In his address, President Bihi mentioned the critical role that countries in regions such as Horn of Africa, Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden have become “focal points of international interest.”
Further, he said that the opening of the office in Taiwan is one of the measures his country is ready to take to promote bilateral trade and economic cooperation with other partners.
President Bihi also clarified that the strengthening of diplomatic ties with Taiwan would not “expose any harm to the interests of other countries.”
Instead, he mentioned that the diplomatic moves Somaliland is making are designed to “contribute to international peace and regional economic growth.”
Somaliland’s Representative Office in Taiwan was officially opened yesterday in a ceremony witnessed by top government officials from both nations.
Mohamed Hagi, Somaliland’s Representative to Taiwan, opened the office together with Joseph Wu, Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
