President Muse Bihi Abdi has directed Somaliland’s House of Representative to reconvene from August 3, 2021.
Bihi issued this directive on August 1.
A statement from the Office of the President said that the House of Representative would hold its first session on Tuesday.
This announcement followed the decision by the Supreme Court to ratify the results of the recent parliamentary elections.
The new Members of Parliament (MPs) would then elect the new Speaker and other parliamentary leadership after being sworn in.
As per the announcement by Bihi’s office, parliamentarians are scheduled to meet as from 9.00am.
Reports from parliamentary sources indicate that Yasin Faraton, a former minister, is likely to emerge victorious in the race for Speaker of the House of Representative.
