Jubbaland has started registering candidates for the upcoming senatorial elections, which are expected to kick off later this week.
In the process, Jubbaland has shown that it’s committed to implementing the electoral agreement that political leaders signed on May 27, 2021.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the southern federal state was busy with the registration of candidates interested in vying for four senatorial seats on July 29.
Each candidate for the Upper House polls is required to pay a registration fee of $20,000.
Candidates who emerge victorious would then move to Mogadishu where they will represent Jubbaland in agitating for friendly legislation and leading the fight for equitable allocation of resources.
