President Muse Bihi Abdi of Somaliland has led the nation in mourning the death of a former commander of Somali’s armed forces.
On February 2, Bihi expressed sorrow at the untimely and shocking murder of retired General Mohamed Nur Galal at a terrorist attack in Mogadishu’s Afrik Hotel.
General Galal was killed when Al-Shabaab militants launched a deadly attack at the hotel.
On Tuesday, President Bihi mourned him at a ceremony held to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the establishment of Somalia’s armed forces.
The attack on Afrik Hotel, which is situated near Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu, took place on the night of January 31.
General Galal is highly celebrated as one of Somalia’s war heroes. He led Somali armed forces in the war against Ethiopian forces in the 1960s.
