Bihi Stops Somaliland from Hosting Somalia Refugees

President Muse Bihi Abdi has stopped Somaliland from playing host to refugees from Somalia.

On Sunday, October 17, President Bihi stated categorically that his country would no longer be hosting refugees from south Somalia.

He was speaking in the wake of the recent government directive ordering Somalis in Las Anod to leave immediately and return to their homes.

Bihi was speaking while responding to a report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

According to OCHA, close to 7,300 Somalis have been forcibly evicted from Las Anod.

Bihi called the report by OCHA “hypocritical.”

In a blistering attack on the UN organization, President Bihi said that OCHA had never assisted the refugees in any way despite leaving in Las Anod for over 30 years.
