Kate Foster, the British Ambassador to Somalia, mourned the death of a women’s rights activist in a deadly suicide vehicle-based improvised explosive device (SVBIED) in Mogadishu.

The attack, which took place on September 25, left Hibaaq Abukar dead.

At the time of her death, Hibaaq had been a leading proponent of women’s rights in the East African nation.

She worked at the Office of the Prime Minister’ Women Affairs Department.

On Saturday, Ambassador Foster said that Hibaaq’s voice would be greatly missed by all those who value the fight for women’s rights.

The British Ambassador relayed her condolences to the friends, family, and colleagues of the late women’s rights advocate.

She died in an attack that Al-Shabaab militants carried out in the nation’s capital.
