Sir Gavin Williams has thrown his weight behind the decision by Ethiopia to grant Somaliland the much-needed international recognition.
Sir Gavins, a Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) for South Staffordshire, spoke a day after the deal between Ethiopia and Somaliland was announced.
In the deal, Ethiopia agreed to recognize Somaliland.
On its part, Somaliland granted Ethiopia access to its Berbera Port.
Over the past few weeks, Ethiopia has declared its intention to seek access to nearby seaports.
Sir Gavins called upon Britain to do more by providing the sort of leadership needed for Somaliland to receive global recognition.
