Business have reopened in Galmudug’s Guri-El town as schools remained closed almost two weeks after the end of deadly clashes.
A deadly conflict broke out in the town on October 23.
The three-day conflict was between government troops and Ahlu Sunna militia.
At the end of the three days, more than 100,000 had been displaced, scores injured, and over 100 people killed.
As of November 6, authorities estimate that over 80,000 had returned to the town.
Among the displaced were 25,800 internally displaced persons (IDPs) who had to experience secondary displacement.
The regional government has promised local residents and businesses that it was working to reconnect water and electricity supplies as soon as possible.
Nevertheless, around 41 schools containing more than 17,000 students remain unopened.
