C-34 Peacekeeping Committee Visits Mogadishu

Members of New York’s C-34 Peacekeeping Committee are in Mogadishu on an official visit.

On Wednesday, they held talks with the Ministry of Defense officials.

They also held meetings with the State Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as well as representatives of the United Nations and the African Union.

Government officials briefed members of the committee on several issues.

These included the ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab as well as the key role that the AU Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) plays in securing and stabilizing the nation.
