Brigadier General Dahir Abdulle Rageh, the chief of Somalia’s central prison, has been suspended.
His suspension was announced on Monday, July 15.
Brig. Gen. Rageh was suspended in response to the recent attempted jailbreak by militant inmates on July 13.
In response to the incident, the Somali government has formed an eight-member committee to conduct a thorough investigation.
General Mohamed Hussein Ahmed has been appointed as the acting prison chief and will lead the investigative efforts.
