An officer with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has been reportedly killed while in combat in Somalia.
A former senior official with the United States administration reported that the officer was killed last weekend.
According to the senior government officer, the CIA agent was wounded in combat before succumbing to his injuries.
Sources confirm that the deceased is a former NAVY Seal.
The United States has a number of military and intelligence officers in the East African nation.
Soldiers from the US Special Operations are embedded with the Somali National Army (SNA). They often carry out joint military operations against Al-Shabaab.
Currently, the US has around 700 troops in the Horn of Africa nation.
President Donald Trump’s outgoing administration recently announced plans to withdraw the troops from Somalia.
