Civil Service Agency Refutes Reports It Sacked a Government Employee via SMS

The Chairman of the Civil Service Agency has denied that an employee of the government of Somaliland was sacked via SMS.

In a statement that he issued on Facebook, Chairman Farhan Aden Haibe denied that the government has ever used text messages to communicate with its workers.

His denial comes hot on the heels of news that an employee of the Ministry of Livestock and Fishery was dismissed from work via a text message.

The story broke out when the employee, identified as Hani Warsame Sulub, posted a screenshot of an SMS allegedly received from the Civil Service Agency of her dismissal.

The SMS read, “Hani Warsame Sulub, the Civil Service Agency hereby dismisses you from your job with Ministry of Livestock and Fishery with immediate effect for your transgressions.”

Warsame’s story went viral on social media, especially Facebook, thus forcing Farhan to respond on the same platform.

However, Warsame has stuck to her story saying that Abdikani Suleiman Jama, the Director of the Legal Department at Civil Service Agency, sent her the text message.

Her father revealed that the Civil Service Agency had ordered her to apologize to Hinda Jama Qani, the Minister of Labor and Social Services, whom she had criticized.
