Mogadishu, Somalia – The Minister of Defence of the Union of the Comoros, Youssoufa Mohamed Ali, was warmly received today at Aden Adde International Airport by Somalia’s State Minister for Defence, Omar Ali Abdi, ahead of the 34th Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Policy Organs Meetings.
The high-level visit marks Comoros’ strong commitment to regional peace and security cooperation under the EASF framework.
Youssoufa joins senior defence officials, military chiefs, and representatives from Eastern African member states gathering in Mogadishu for the multilateral summit.
Upon his arrival, Youssoufa expressed deep appreciation to the Federal Government of Somalia for the warm reception and the comprehensive logistical and security arrangements provided for all delegates.
He emphasized the importance of the EASF as a platform for fostering regional stability, enhancing mutual cooperation, and addressing collective security threats.
The 34th Policy Organs Meetings of EASF, hosted by Somalia for the first time in several years, are expected to cover critical discussions on peacekeeping readiness, joint military training, and regional conflict resolution strategies.
Somalia’s hosting of the summit underscores its growing role in regional security architecture and its re-emergence as a reliable partner in multilateral defence and peace initiatives.
