Construction of 68-Bed Hospital for SNA Personnel Launched

The construction of a hospital dedicated specifically to Somali National Army (SNA) personnel has kicked off.

The hospital’s construction is possible because of funding from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and the Italian government.

According to a statement from the funders, the hospital will have a bed capacity of 68.

It’s being constructed as part of the Early Recovery and Stabilization Program.

The program allows AMISOM to carry out Quick Impact Projects, as part of its efforts aimed at extending services in many sectors.

Over the years, AMISOM has relied on such programs to construct health facilities, schools, and hospitals.

The site where the old Somali National Army Hospital in Mogadishu stood has been selected for the new facility.

Alberto Vecchi, Italy’s Ambassador to Somalia, attended the launching ceremony.

Simon Mulongo, the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission also attended the November 2 function.

Brigadier General Odowaa Yusuf Rageh also represented SNA at the ceremony.
