Somalia’s DANAB Special Forces have recaptured a highway running through Lafaha-Ragga area.
The strategic highway is about 60kms from the port city of Kismayo, which Al-Shabaab relies on heavily.
By recapturing the highway, the forces have cut off one of Al-Shabaab’s crucial supply lines. DANAB Special Forces’ Gen. Ismail Abdimalik confirmed these latest developments.
The operation was the latest by the Somali National Army (SNA) troops against the Al-Qaeda linked militia.
Gen. Abdimalik also said that the US-specially trained forces had killed six militants.
In the last few months, Al-Shabaab has suffered heavy losses from attacks carried by SNA, US African Command (AFRICOM), and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) forces.
