The death toll from the terror attack that took place in Mogadishu’s K-5 Junction on Saturday has now risen to 121.
Dr. Ali Haji Adam, the federal Minister of Health, confirmed the latest figure on Tuesday during an interview with the Voice of America (VOA) Somalia.
Further, he added that 10 people remain missing from the attack that rocked the nation’s capital on October 29.
According to the National Response Committee, which President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud appointed, 333 people suffered injuries in the attack.
Dr. Adam also mentioned that around 142 people are in hospitals receiving treatment for their serious injuries with many of them in the intensive care unit (ICU).
He reiterated the President’s appeal to the international community to send health professionals to Mogadishu to help treat the wounded.
During the interview, Dr. Adam added that the World Health Organization (WHO) promised a medical team, two ambulances, and medical supplies to help with the ongoing emergency.
