Deni Calls Mogadishu Clashes Involving Somali Army “Unfortunate”

President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland has called Friday clashes involving Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers in Mogadishu a bit “unfortunate.”

Puntland administration issued a press statement condemning the bloodshed that occurred when SNA soldiers clashed with security officers loyal to opposition presidential candidates.

In its statement, Puntland expressed dismay that the clashes were taking place at such a time.

Deni’s administration believes that the clashes are harmful to the fledgling democracy in the East African nation.

President Deni urged the stakeholders to exercise restraint.

It also encouraged them to embrace dialogue as a means for resolving the current electoral dispute between the government, regional state leaders, and opposition candidates.
