President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland has expressed great delight at the opportunity he has to participate in the ongoing National Consultation Conference.
On February 3, Deni joined other Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS) leaders in Dhusamareb for the conference organized to discuss elections impasse.
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble represent the FGS side in the discussions.
Omar Filish, the Mayor of Mogadishu, who also serves as the Governor of Banaadir Region is at the talks too.
Galmudug’s President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor, HirShabelle’s President Ali Guudlaawe, Jubbaland’s President Ahmed Islam Madobe represent the FMS side.
Others on the FMS group include Puntland’s President Said Abdullahi Deni and Southwest’s President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Lafta-Gareen.
The three-day conference kicked off on Monday, February 1.
According to President Deni, the FGS and FMS leaders are interested in reaching a “broad political agreement on Somalia.”
He expressed hope that the country’s leadership would use this opportunity to find solutions for the electoral impasse that has troubled Somalia for months.
