President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland has thrown his weight behind the leadership of Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
Deni’s show of support to the Prime Minister comes in the midst of a fresh row between Roble and President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
The dispute between Prime Minister Roble and President Farmaajo emerged after the former sacked Fahad Yasin from his role as the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
On Tuesday, Puntland issued a statement commending Prime Minister Roble’s efforts of getting to the bottom of the alleged murder of Ikran Tahlil, a female NISA agent.
Roble sacked Yasin to pave way for investigations into the role that NISA played in the agent’s death.
NISA blames Al-Shabaab for killing Tahlil.
Additionally, Puntland has said that it supports the Prime Minister’s pursuit of justice for Tahlil, her family, and the nation as a whole.
It also welcomed Roble’s decision to sack Yasin.
