Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi M. Gulaid discussed Somalia’s elections with James Swan, the United Nations Special Envoy.
Gulaid’s discussions with UN Special Envoy Swan took place on Tuesday, January 18.
Swan had paid the Deputy Prime Minister a courtesy call at the latter’s office in Mogadishu.
During their meeting, the leaders discussed the importance of holding timely elections in the East African nation.
Their discussions revolved around the recent National Consultative Council (NCC) Conference.
The NCC conference settled on February 25 as the deadline for holding parliamentary elections.
UN Special Envoy Swan also informed Deputy Prime Minister Gulaid of the UN’s support to the ongoing elections timeline in Somalia.
