Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi M. Gulaid held a meeting with the new Chinese Ambassador to Somalia on Thursday.
Gulaid took the opportunity to welcome Ambassador Fei Shengchao to Somalia.
The meeting between the two leaders took place in Mogadishu in the offices of the Deputy Prime Minister.
Deputy Prime Minister Gulaid and Ambassador Shengchao talked about several issues that are important to both Somalia and China.
The Asian superpower is one of Somalia’s most important international allies.
The Deputy Prime Minister commended the two nations for establishing and pursuing diplomatic relations based on common interests and friendliness.
Ambassador Shengchao arrived to Somalia a few days ago.
He has already presented his credentials to President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
