Dhusamareb Conference Ends without Elections Deal for Somalia

The National Consultative Conference that has been going on in Dhusamareb since February 1 ended on Friday without an elections deal.

Osman Dubbe, Somalia’s Minister of Information, issued a statement saying that the conference ended without a deal in place.

Consequently, leaders are expected to travel back to their regional states having failed to resolve the impasse surrounding issues preventing the country from holding elections.

Furthermore, the disagreement comes only three days before Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s term as the President of the Republic of Somalia expires.

The situation has left Somalia reeling in plenty of political uncertainty, as elections are long overdue.
