DP World has announced plans to modernize Bosaso Port in the regional state of Puntland.
The organization stated that it would modernize the port as part of its efforts to expand its operations not only in Somalia but also on the African continent.
DP World made this announcement while signing an agreement with the Puntland government.
Consequently, Bosaso Port will be the second such facility in the Somali peninsula to be under the management of DP World after Berbera Port.
Part of the modernization includes the development of a 500ft pier.
Further, DP World would also repair the existing 700ft quay, which is not in excellent condition.
A 43,000-square-foot container stripping yard and a 33,000-square-foot container yard would be developed as part of the undertakings by DP World.
The expansion and modernization will kick off in early 2023.
