Draft Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Bill Goes Through First Reading in Somali Parliament

Somalia’s draft Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Bill went through the first reading in the federal parliament.

Members of Parliament in the House of the People (Lower House) took the draft bill through its first reading in the session held on Saturday at the parliamentary buildings.

Ahmed Fiqi, the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, presented the bill to the Lower House legislators.

The 46-article bill tackles a number of important topics. These include births, deaths, marriage, and divorce.
