The East African Community (EAC) has promised to fast-track Somalia’s request to join the regional economic bloc.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia traveled to Arusha, Tanzania to attend the latest EAC Summit, which ran from July 20-21.
Later, the EAC Heads of State issued a communiqué stating that they would consider Somalia’s request based on the organization’s procedure for admission of new members.
Afterward, the EAC Secretariat would report to all the members during the 23rd Meeting of the Summit.
