An Egyptian military officer attended the meeting of top African Union Transition in Somalia (ATMIS) commanders in Mogadishu.
The Egyptian colonel was at the meeting held in the Somali capital on Thursday. He was in his full military regalia.
His presence is likely to raise eyebrows considering the fact that Egypt is not one of the nations contributing forces to ATMIS.
It is also worth noting that Egypt has no military or police presence in the East African nation within the ATMIS context or otherwise.
There has been no official word from either Somalia or ATMIS regarding the presence of the Egyptian military officer at the meeting.
