The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has selected eight Somalis for its graduate internship program.
A press release from the foreign affairs ministry shows that 486 Somalis had applied for the six-month internship program.
The ministry advertised the spaces on April 5, 2022.
A month later, it settled on eight individuals from various backgrounds. The foreign affairs ministry announced the final eight on May 12.
The aim of selecting the individuals for the internship program is to make the study of diplomacy and international affairs more attractive to young Somali graduates.
Consequently, the selected individuals would work in different departments within the ministry on a rotational basis.
Fifty candidates had been shortlisted from the 486 before the eight were finally announced.
