The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) and Head of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), Ambassador Souef Mohamed El-Amine, hosted an Iftar gathering on Wednesday evening.
The event brought together officials from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), international partners, and AUSSOM staff.
During the gathering, Amb. Souef expressed gratitude for the support provided to the AU Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration for the follow-on mission, AUSSOM.
He highlighted that AUSSOM has already commenced its initial operational phase, Phase 1, starting January 1 of this year.
The event also served as an opportunity to welcome attendees to the new AUSSOM Mission.
This gathering underscores the ongoing commitment of the African Union and its partners to support Somalia’s stability and transition efforts.
