Elders Protest the Arrest of Hiiraan Police Chief over Recent Terrorist Attack

A group of elders has spoken out strongly against the decision to arrest the Hiiraan police chief over recent terror attacks in the region.

They expressed their displeasure at the news that Isak Ali Abdulle, the Hiiraan police chief, is now in police custody.

Hiiraan Governor Ali Jeyte’s recent comments on Abdulle led to his arrest.

Governor Jeyte accused Abdulle of “being negligent” which created the opening through which Al-Shabaab launched a deadly attack in Beledweyne.

Currently, Abdulle is in Mogadishu undergoing interrogation over the October 3 attack.

On Saturday, elders asked the government to set Abdulle free so that he resumes his duties as fast as possible.
