Electoral talks in Somalia collapsed because outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo insisted that he must remain in office despite his term expiring on February 8.
The Council of Presidential Candidates Union (CPC) issued a statement on this issue.
In its statement, which is dated March 8, CPC accused Farmaajo of orchestrating the talks’ collapse.
CPC accuse Farmaajo of engaging in self-serving acts that do not benefit the rest of the country, which needs to manage its electoral affairs properly for the sake of stability and peace.
The candidates also attributed failure of the talks to achieve any meaningful result as a direct result of Farmaajo’s pursuit of continued stay in office despite his term expiring a month ago.
