Elite NISA Forces Kill Al-Shabaab IED Coordinator in Lower Shabelle Operation

Lower Shabelle – Somali intelligence officials announced on Tuesday that Gaashaan Special Forces executed an overnight raid in Lower Shabelle, eliminating a top Al-Shabaab commander blamed for coordinating bombings and instability throughout the region.

The operation targeted Hassan Siidoow Hussein, identified as the militant group’s chief organizer of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) deployed along vital roads, leading to ongoing civilian deaths and transport interruptions.

Gaashaan units, directed by the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), monitored Hassan over an extended period before neutralizing him and three armed guards in the Cumar Beere district, according to officials.

NISA described the raid as part of a stepped-up drive to break up surviving Al-Shabaab networks in southern Somalia.
