The World Food Programme (WFP) Somalia extends its sincere gratitude to the European Union’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS), and the Logistics Cluster for their critical support in advancing humanitarian operations across the country. These partnerships play a pivotal role in enabling WFP and other humanitarian actors to respond swiftly and effectively to the needs of vulnerable populations.
Through the EU’s financial and logistical support, UNHAS provides vital air transport services for humanitarian personnel and cargo, especially in areas that are otherwise inaccessible due to insecurity or poor infrastructure. This capability ensures that aid workers can safely reach remote and conflict-affected regions, where needs are often the greatest.
Meanwhile, the Logistics Cluster, coordinated by WFP, serves as a vital coordination platform for humanitarian partners, optimizing the use of resources, sharing information, and ensuring the timely delivery of essential supplies. By streamlining logistics and fostering collaboration, the cluster reduces duplication and enhances the efficiency of aid delivery.
Together, these contributions significantly strengthen WFP’s ability to deliver life-saving assistance to communities affected by conflict, climate shocks, and food insecurity. The continued collaboration of international partners remains essential in overcoming access challenges and reaching those most in need across Somalia.
