Ethiopia has launched joint talks with Somaliland on ways of working together to improve security in both nations.
The talks were officially opened on Tuesday in Hargeisa.
High-ranking security officers from Addis Ababa and Hargeisa are at the meeting, which is taking place at the compound of Somaliland’s Ministry of Interior.
Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, Somaliland’s Minister of Interior leads the delegation from President Muse Bihi Abdi’s administration.
Others in his delegation include Abdikani Mohamud Ateye, the Minister of Defense.
Both sides agreed on joint ways of strengthening cooperation to make Ethiopia and Somaliland securer for all.
Security is a priority for both sides considering that Somaliland and Ethiopia share a long border.
Moreover, they have to share intelligence gathered on the terrorists, who have increased their activities in the region in the recent past.
