Ethiopia condemned the deadly attack in Mogadishu that occurred on Saturday.
In a press statement released on Sunday through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ethiopia expressed condolences to the victims’ families.
Ethiopia further said it would stand in solidarity with the Somali people in the fight against terrorism.
Notably, the statement refrained from mentioning the Somali government directly, which could hint at a diplomatic nuance in Ethiopia’s stance.
This comes at a time when relations between the two countries are under close scrutiny due to various regional dynamics.
Nonetheless, Ethiopia reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism in the region.
Thus far, authorities report that the deadly car bomb blast near the National Theatre in Mogadishu has claimed at least four lives.
