Ethiopia has spoken out strongly against the stance that the Arab League states took on its agreement with Somaliland.
Misganu Arega, the Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs, spoke on this matter on Thursday.
A few days ago, the Arab League urged Ethiopia to cancel its January 1 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Somaliland.
The agreement accords Ethiopia a 50-year lease over 20kms of Somaliland coastline.
Through Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Arab League called for the complete annulment of the MoU.
It described the MoU as a “clear violation of the international law.”
