Ethiopia Says Somali Government Contains Al-Shabaab Elements

Ethiopia has issued a scathing attack on certain officials of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) accusing them of sympathising with terrorists.

The Ethiopian government’s response was delivered by Nabiyu Tedla, the Deputy Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU), earlier today.

In it, Ethiopia appears to dismiss the statement made by Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, characterizing it as nationalistic rhetoric coming from individuals allegedly aligned with or influenced by Al-Shabaab.

Tedla’s remarks also imply criticism of the Somali government’s focus on clan-based politics, suggesting that this approach could harm Somalia’s national progress.

This exchange reflects ongoing tensions between Ethiopia and Somalia, especially concerning political and security dynamics in the region.

It also highlights Ethiopia’s firm stance against what it perceives as destabilizing factors within Somalia.
