The Upper House of Ethiopia has created history by electing Aden Farah Ibrahim as the first speaker of Somali descent.
Somalis are a minority group in Ethiopia, especially in the Eastern part of the Horn of Africa nation.
However, on Wednesday history was created when the Senate voted a Somali unanimously as the new Speaker of the Upper House.
Before his historic election, Farah had been the Vice President of Somali, which is a regional state in the country.
He takes over from a member of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) called Ms. Keria Ibrahim, who tendered her resignation on Monday.
