The immediate former Governor of the Hiiraan region has canceled all civilian flights to Beletweyne.
Ex-Governor Ali Jeyte issued the order canceling civilian flights in and out of Beletweyne on Wednesday.
The order canceling the flights takes immediate effect.
Analysts believe that Jeyte’s order is the result of increased political tensions in the region.
President Ali Gudlawe of HirShabelle state sacked Jeyte a week ago.
Jeyte then followed this by declaring himself the leader of Hiiraan.
He added that Hiiraan would no longer be part of HirShabelle state.
