A former Minister of Security claimed that authorities ignored a security alert warning of a possible terror attack in Mogadishu.
Abdirizak Mohamed, a serving Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives, said that the security alert issued last week warned authorities of a terror attack.
According to Mohamed, a former security minister in Somalia, the alert warned that Al-Shabaab was planning a terror attack in the next 72 hours.
As per Mohamed’s statement, the warning on the alert was ignored.
On the evening of January 31, Afrik Hotel was the target of a daring and deadly terror attack that caused the deaths of 9 people.
Al-Shabaab has since claimed responsibility for the attack saying that it targeted past and present senior government officials.
