Former Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has accused the current government of failing in its efforts against al-Shabab due to mismanagement and corruption.
During a press conference on Saturday, he claimed that no single battalion in the Somali military is currently prepared to combat the militant group.
This criticism highlights ongoing concerns about the effectiveness and integrity of Somalia’s military operations.
He added that the government’s ongoing offensives against Al-Shabaab fall short because of wrong strategies.
Ex-President Ahmed cited flawed management of the military as yet another reason for failure to defeat Al-Shabaab.
